How can poems help you in life?

Did you ever have a situation, when you need to express your feelings or attitudes towards someone or something, but your own words fail you? Or the time is pressing, or the environment does not allow you to concentrate and catch inspiration in order to organize your ideas. If yes, then there’s a wonderful solution for you – why not take one of the poems great poets created in the past!

The simplest example is a congratulation for someone’s bithday. Of course, you can make a speech on your own and say the kind words to the person. But if you’re short of time or just love the birthday person too much to put it into words, a good idea might be just to choose from a variety of birthday poems. There are verses on every topic you might think of: love, life, nature, relationships, friendship, animals, travelling, family, etc. They can be serious and thought-provoking or funny and ridiculous. They can be just a few lines or long odes. They can sound several centuries old or modern, even slang, if you like, so that they are appropriate for any “target group” of listeners.

Moreover, it has been proven that poetry has positive therapeutical effect on the mind and soul of a human being. All great people if the past valued verses as the source of comfort, wisdom, peace and even healing. Many of them took to writing when they sought for inner freedom and a way to get rid of negative sensations. Thus, poem-writing can become an outstanding exercise for intellect and self-expression, even the exiting part of the party program.

Remember that poems contain the thoughts, ideas and emotions of talented people, who felt life and knew how to express it! They can take to the times and places we will never have a chance to experience ourselves. Through poetry we might get to know the amazing world out there, as words don not know any boundaries and travel as far as human imagination can reach. So don’t neglect this source of inspiration which might come in handy in any life situation.
