Poetry is a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, its apparent meaning. Poetry exists for a long time, dating back to the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh. The earliest poems evolved from folk songs, such as the Chinese Shijing, or from the need to retell oral epics, such as the Sanskrit Vedas, Zoroastrian Gathas, and the Homeric epics, the Odyssey and the Iliad. Ancient attempts to define poetry, such as Aristotle's Poetics, focused on the uses of speech in rhetoric, drama, song, and comedy. Later attempts concentrated on features such as repetition, verse form and rhyme, and emphasized the aesthetics which distinguish poetry from more objectively informative, prosaic forms of writing. From the mid-20th century, poetry has sometimes been more generally labeled as a fundamental creative act using language. Our resource is a place where you’ll find short poems and other poetry sorted by categories.
Some poetry types are specific to particular cultures and genres, responding to the characteristics of the language in which the poet writes. Readers accustomed to identifying poetry with Dante, Goethe, Mickiewicz and Rumi may think of it as being written in lines based upon rhyme and regular meter; however, there are traditions, such as Biblical poetry, that use other methodologies to create rhythm and euphony. Much of modern British and American poetry is to some extent a critique of poetic tradition, playing with and testing (among other things) the principle of euphony itself, to the extent that sometimes it deliberately does not rhyme or keep to set rhythms at all. In today's globalized world poets often borrow styles, techniques and forms from diverse cultures and languages. To simplify poetry search and give individuals an opportunity to exchange with short poems we created this site.
This website is designed for people who like poetry in all possible forms and for individuals who want to learn to express emotions with text. In this category you’ll find a regularly updated collection of short poems. If you would like to show your poetry to the world then submit it here.

The farmers got the gun
The wife has the oven hot
And your the one.
So run and run
So you dont get served with a bun.
He loves me not
God his body is so king hot
I wonder what mom would say
If she knew I thought about dad this way
He Rats Out At Me Less…
. He Jokes To Much…
Till I Get Constipated And Throw Up…
It Makes Me Giggle Twice As Much…
Till I Fall In Mud….
He Says Stop…
I Say Why?….
Because You are Gonna Sneeze Snot Everywhere…..
Even Up Their With God
Yes, it is quite true
I stay in them when visiting
The White House or the zoo
I had a bad experience
That caused me to waken
The maid did walk in on me
While I was naked!
Held in our souls as we wait for that day
Racing and beating our hearts hit the ceiling
In such excitement all worries decay
Silently waiting for Santa Clauses sleigh
Time seems to drift as each day is sealing
Merry and cheerful smiling away
Always singing and laughing and joyfully squealing
Seizing the happiness of Christmas Day
That the thoughts they thought tonight
Tomorrow those that thought those thoughts
Thrive that those thoughts were right
Possibility-buds,
But adversity can never hide
Inevitability-flowers.
There is prosperity.
Wait and see!
Beauty is Infinity,
Infinity is Beauty
Will clasp you behind all shadows
Of adversity-night.
In the face of adversity If you have ceaseless faith in yourself
And if you are ready to play the role
Of the hero-warrior
At every moment of your life.
